MADRID — A Dutch doctor has been suspended from business in the United States after it was found that he marketed his erectile dysfunction drug Viagra in other countries.
Mohamad Nusrat Ben Saidir was suspended for 12 months from the European Union after he sold counterfeit Viagra on the Internet.
According to a court filing, when he became aware of the drug’s sales in the United States, he started buying it from internet sites and offered it to customers.
He said he used to use it to treat his erectile dysfunction and that he was “taking care of myself.”
He told the court that he had not used the drug and that it was “unrealistic” for him to believe that it was effective. But he said it is “not that important” and “I don’t think it’s the right medication for people with heart problems.”
He said he had no medical conditions, but that he had been told that he was not using the drug and that he was taking “some other medications.”
